As part of the London Open House event, I was invited to create an installation that would enhance the Grand Stair which spans an incredible 100 foot height in this stunning Grade l listed building – the former Midland Grand Hotel. A unique example of Gothic Revival architecture, it was designed by George Gilbert Scott in 1873 and is now the St. Pancras Renaissance London Hotel. I created 44 finely knitted “soft pillars” which adorned the stairs. It was a joy to work in this extraordinary building.
